About the book

1948. Kazan. Frunzik Kazaryan, head of the supply department of the bread-baking industry trust, is shot dead with a pistol in his apartment. Leaving, the killer took the jewelry the owner had obviously acquired dishonestly. According to a neighbor, he met Kazaryan on the day of the murder leaving the entrance, and when he went upstairs he found the same Kazaryan in the unlocked apartment, but already without signs of life. Militia Major Vitaly Shchelkunov concludes that the criminal skillfully exploited a physical resemblance to the victim. Or faked it? Soon the detective's guess receives an unexpected and terrible explanation...

A unique chance to return to one of the brightest periods of Soviet history: the postwar time. Real people, real criminal cases, gripping plot twists.

Characters resembling the cult figures of the film “The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed”. The spirit of the time, tenderly kept in many families. An unusual and realistic look at the “kitchen” of the everyday work of the Soviet militia.
