About the book

Framed by a fabricated sentence, Varyag, the thief-in-law and Overseer of Russia, is serving time in a prison camp in the remote north. Lawlessness let loose outside and a thirst for revenge push him to a desperate step: to escape, whatever the cost. Kind people help him survive and save his life after severe wounds. Once recovered, Varyag returns to St. Petersburg, frees his wife and son, punishes the traitors and begins to establish a hard but just order in Russia.
