About the book

When even the silence screams of the crime...

1904. In Moscow the titular councillor Vladislav Sergeyevich Shchelkunov goes missing. The search is entrusted to the judicial investigator for especially important cases, Ivan Volovtsov. According to witnesses, the victim had recently been very dissatisfied about something. In Shchelkunov's study everything is turned upside down: someone was clearly looking for something. The local caretaker testified that on the day the titular councillor disappeared, an unfamiliar gentleman “of about fifty” left their house. Perhaps that was the robber or the murderer... Suddenly news arrives that the body of an unknown man with a distinguishing mark of a piquant nature has been found in the Moscow suburbs. Perhaps something similar was on Shchelkunov's body too?

A historical detective novel about a crime of the early last century. The author immerses us in the atmosphere of that time so vividly that we can literally hear the clatter of the cobblestones, the noise of the city bazaar, the ringing of bells and the piercing whistles of the policemen...
